Ex-WWE Superstars have expressed their surprise over being included in the latest video game by the promotion after being cut.
WWE 2K22 was released in March this year, after being delayed from the original 2021 Q4 window.
It was later reported that the delay was partly due to developers needing to update the game to reflect constant roster cuts.
Sean Ross Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that several released wrestlers are “expecting something” in the way of royalties.
“We have spoken to several members of the WWE 2K22 roster that have been released along the way since they were scanned in. None of them that we spoke to were informed explicitly ahead of the announcement that they’d be included in the game, but some caught wind of it in the days prior. We’ve spoken to numerous wrestlers who weren’t told outright that they’d be getting paid for it, but to “expect something” later this year.”
WWE 2K22 has been met with positive reviews following the disastrous launch of WWE 2K20 in late 2019.
