Adam Cole is finished with WWE NXT, according to Pwinsider. As many of you saw, Cole was defeated at NXT TakeOver 36 by Kyle O’Reilly in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Afterwards, Cole was helped to the back.

According to a report from Fightful, Adam Cole had yet to come to terms on a new contract with WWE as of Sunday morning. Previously, the staff here at eWn reported that Cole was working under a short-term deal and his contract was set to expire after NXT TakeOver 36.
Cole had a backstage meeting with Vince McMahon at WWE SmackDown several weeks ago. The meeting happened in McMahon’s office a few hours before the show and was said to have appeared to have been a “high priority” to Vince himself. At the time, those in WWE said the meeting “went well” and McMahon seemed to have taken a liking to Cole on a personal level. There have also been multiple main roster pitches for him since he signed his short-term extension in July. For what it’s worth, Cole’s meeting with Vince took place prior to all of the reports that WWE NXT was going to be revamped to feature bigger talent and just hours before many talents from the NXT brand were fired.

Following the conclusion of the Cole/O’Reilly match at NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday night, The Young Bucks updated their Twitter bio to hint at Cole being “resurrected from the dead”. In addition to that, it was also quoted by Cole’s girlfriend – AEW Superstar Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

Unless things have changed, Adam Cole is free to sign wherever as he’s reportedly no longer under contract with WWE and doesn’t have a non-complete clause. The belief is that he’s headed to AEW. Of course, that is not confirmed. All we know at this time is that he’s done with the WWE NXT brand. Does that mean a main roster call-up is coming or is he done for good and headed elsewhere? That remains to be seen.
As always, the staff here at eWn will provide updates as they become available.
