As previously reported here on eWn, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, worked a match last week at the AEW Dynamite TV tapings. Austin and Billy Gunn teamed up to defeat the team of Shawn Spears and Preston Vance. According to a report from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the Austin Gunn match was originally not supposed to air on AEW Dark.
Satin is reporting that Gunn’s match at last week’s AEW TV tapings was seen as “more of a tryout” but AEW officials were impressed enough to feature the match on Tuesday night’s AEW Dark broadcast.
For those wondering, sources say Billy Gunn’s match w/ son Austin Gunn taped at Dynamite last week was never intended to be on Dark & was more of a tryout.
I’m told the tryout went well & Austin will team w/ Billy again tonight for a match that will likely air on Dark next week.
