According to sources, former TNA Superstar Bully Ray (Bubba Ray Dudley) almost made his return to the company at last night’s TNA iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings. Multiple sources are reporting that he was offered a “big-money deal and a top spot in the company” and would have faced Bobby Lashley for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at last night’s TV tapings. Both sides were said to have been very close to a deal, but it didn’t work out in the end. TNA then reached out to Alberto El Patron on Wednesday night and came to terms with him within 24 hours.
TNA also reportedly reached out to another big name to fill the role that was offered to Dudley but it was given to El Patron instead. There is no word on who the third talent TNA reached out to was as of this writing. For what it’s worth, another major name may be appearing at tonight’s iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings.
As seen in our **SPOILER** report last night, Alberto El Patron wound up winning the iMPACT! Wrestling Championship at last night’s TV tapings. The match and title change will air on next week’s iMPACT! Wrestling broadcast on POP TV.
It should also be noted that TNA iMPACT! Wrestling officials went to great lengths to keep the news on Alberto’s debut from leaking to the ‘net. They actually hid him while he was in transit. Anthem Vince President Ed Nordholm then wound up spoiling the surprise when he sent out a photo of Alberto and Jeff Jarrett together in the ring before the taping even started.
For what it’s worth, Drew Galloway was originally set to win the title from Lashley last night but he of course decided to leave the company when he felt disrespected during contract negotiations.
