CM Punk is wanting out of his AEW contract following the controversy stemming from All Out 2022, Bryan Alvarez has reported.
Punk, a two-time former AEW World Champion, has been suspended since the September pay-per-view event, due to his media scrum comments and his role in the backstage fight.
Alvarez noted in a recent tweet that Punk is the one who wants the contract buyout and pointed out that if AEW wants him gone, then they would just release him.
“Punk wants the buyout.
“Why would AEW want a buyout? Fire him.
“If you troll him, what’s gonna happen, he’s going to say he doesn’t want a buyout anymore?”
Alvarez added that if AEW releases the former World Champion, they will likely wait until he is healed from his injury.
It has been reported that AEW is concerned that Punk could join WWE if he is released.
On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, The Elite poked fun at Punk and the All Out fight, which was reportedly not something they had planned in advance.
