According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Piper Niven (Viper) will be signing with WWE once her current World of Sport Wrestling contract expires. For those unaware, Niven was a competitor in the 2017 Mae Young Classic and lost in the third round to Toni Storm.
Also, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) wanted to sign Niven, but it appears she will choose WWE over them.
The race to sign up top free agents in pro-wrestling right now has amped up with both WWE and AEW aggressively trying to sign top indie talents. According to sources, there are numerous current WWE wrestlers who are interested in AEW and want to explore their potential options with them once their WWE contracts expire. There is also said to be a “wait and see” attitude regarding if AEW will be a success long-term.
There are many that are hopeful that AEW will succeed as they are being backed a billionaire owner in Tony Khan, who is a huge wrestling fan and is “ready to spend all the money he needs” to make the promotion successful.
