As seen during last night’s Royal Rumble event, Drew McIntyre and Charlotte Flair were the winners of their Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches respectively. However, WWE originally had different Superstars in mind to be victorious.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Roman Reigns and former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler were the original picks. For what it’s worth, Baszler and Reigns were the last remaining Superstars of their respective Rumble matches.
Reportedly, the decision was made after WWE officials looked at WrestleMania plans more closely. This decision was said to have made more sense due to believing they could get Reigns and Baszler to their programs without the win.
