According to a new report from Slam Wrestling, Sammy Guevara was originally set to be part of an Impact Wrestling storyline but he was pulled due to creative issues. As many of you know by now, Guevara quit the Inner Circle last week on AEW Dynamite. Following Tony Khan signing off on a plan for Guevara to become involved in an Impact storyline, Guevara sent a text message to Impact Wrestling officials complaining about the creative direction of the planned angle.

Once Impact Wrestling officials received his text, they contacted Tony Khan and Chris Jericho. It was Chris Jericho who had initially come up with the idea. According to the report, Jericho then contacted Don Callis about Guevara not working the taping. When Guevara landed in Nashville, TN, he was sent a text message from Chris Jericho that told him not to go to the arena and to return home instead.

While there were no AEW Superstars at the recent set of Impact Wrestling TV tapings, they could always edit in post-production videos like they did with Kenny Omega.

Khan is reportedly upset with Guevara over the situation. AEW management is also concerned that Guevara’s actions may have hurt their relationship with Impact Wrestling.
