According to a report from Sportskeeda, there may be a movement to quietly end the Wild Card rule within WWE.

The Wild Card rule, which was instituted shortly after WrestleMania, has blurred the lines of the brand split end allowed for Superstars such as Roman Reigns to appear on both Raw and SmackDown, as Roman has done this week.

It’s very clear that they’re not extending this to as many rivalries anymore, with Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon’s rivalry being exclusive to the SmackDown brand.

One WWE source was quoted in the report as saying part of the reason they’re looking to end the Wild Card rule is to be able to have more special moments around Survivor Series time such as last year’s big rivalry with Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey:

“There’s a lot of people who want it to end. Companies, sponsors, management, and talent. You don’t get another Lynch and Rousey moment without that Survivor Series format.”
