UPDATE: Sean Ross Sapp says he is not hearing the same, saying: “I have not heard anything even remotely confirming that Triple H turned down an Executive Director position”
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet also said the following: “I’ve also heard from multiple sources now who say the rumor of Triple H being offered/turning down one of the Executive Director positions is false.”
ORIGINAL: As announced on Thursday, WWE has named Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as the new Executive Directors and creative heads of RAW and SmackDown! Live. As you’d expect, the announcement caught a lot of fans and people backstage by surprise. Fightful reported that at least one longtime WWE Superstar questioned why Triple H wasn’t picked for either role. In an update on this, Brad Shepard claims that Triple H was offered Bischoff’s new Executive Director role for SmackDown! Live, but he apparently turned it down.
The reason “H” declined the SmackDown! Live offer is because it meant he’d have to manage both SmackDown! Live and NXT. Shepard said, “The same source also told me Triple H was offered Eric Bischoff’s Executive Director role on #SDLive under the condition that he juggle NXT as well, and he declined.”
Triple H currently serves in an official role listed as Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. WWE’s announcement today says the following regarding Bischoff and Heyman, “In their executive roles, Heyman and Bischoff will oversee the creative development of WWE’s flagship programming and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business.”
