According to sources, the reason The Big Show didn’t appear at the WrestleMania 34 and Greatest Royal Rumble events is due to a new injury. WWE reportedly wanted to have The Big Show in the fifty-man Royal Rumble match at last Friday’s Saudi Arabia event. There were plans to have a showdown between The Big Show, Mark Henry and Hiroko Sumi during the Greatest Royal Rumble match, but The Big Show suffered a new injury around three weeks ago while training to return from his hip surgery.
The Big Show last appeared in a WWE ring in September of 2017. At the time, he was written out of storylines after Braun Strowman beat him down during a post-steel cage match attack. The angle allowed him to get the hip surgery he needed and he has been working to come back ever since. As of now, the severity of The Big Show’s injury isn’t known but it was significant enough to keep him off the pay-per-view events. During a March 2018 interview, Big Show said he would be back in time for WrestleMania 34.
