Report – WWE To Hold A 100,000 Seat Event In Melbourne This Year

According to a report from The Sportster, WWE is looking to host an event at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). The venue can hold over 100,000 fans and is the 10th largest stadium in the world. The stadium hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, several FIFA World Cup qualifiers and a Guns N’ Roses concert in 2017.

According to The Sportster report, WWE’s goal is to sell out as much of the arena as possible in order to create an event on the scale of WrestleMania 32 (101,763), WrestleMania III in Pontiac, Michigan at (93,173), WrestleMania 29 in East Rutherford, NJ, (80,676), SummerSlam 1992 in London, England (80,355), and WrestleMania 23 in Detroit, Michigan at (80,103).

As many of you know by now, the 2018 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The 2018 WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view takes place from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA.
