According to a report from SportsGamersOnline.com, WWE spoke with Take-Two Interactive about the possibility of including Cody Rhodes as DLC for WWE 2K22.
The report notes that these talks began prior to Rhodes’ WWE return, but the idea was “quickly shot down.” WWE reportedly expected as much, with the report noting that “They [WWE] knew it was unlikely, but you don’t know for sure unless you ask.”
The reasons behind Take-Two rejecting the idea of including Rhodes are multiple. For starters, creating an accurate model takes weeks including the time taken to scan the wrestler. The team also have to capture entrance animations, secure the music for the wrestler, set their move-set and capture audio from both the commentary team and the ring announcer. The latter of these issues is made even more difficult as ring entrances in 2K22 are voiced by Greg Hamilton. Hamilton was released by WWE in the latter half of 2021.
