According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE pressured Germany-based promotion wXw to sever it’s booking of independent wrestler David Starr. Here’s what Dave Meltzer had to say:
“The details are still forthcoming. WWE made it such that, they could not work together anymore.” Meltzer stated. “It was pressure from WWE, they did not want David Starr in any company they can control David Starr not being in.”
Starr’s time with wXw came to an end after putting his career on the line at the 16 Carat Gold Tournament event in Oberhausen, Germany this past weekend. Here’s what David Starr had to say regarding his departure via Twitter:
I won’t go into further details regarding wXw on this platform and idk when/if I will in any public setting.
Like I said, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences and that this mutual decision was one that neither of us wanted to make.
I love wXw & always will. pic.twitter.com/rP3QsmoQmr

Reportedly, WWE was upset that Starr once stepped on the NXT UK Championship during a match with WALTER. Currently, Starr is the champion in another promotion WWE works with, OTT. At this time it’s unknown if WWE has approached the promotion to discontinue the usage of Starr on their shows.
