Ric Flair Happy For Ricky Steamboat On His Upcoming Return

The legendary rivalry between “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat is a wrestling tale that stretches back through the ages. The duo had several iconic matches over the course of their storied careers, and recently, The Dirtiest Player in the Game spoke on his long-time rival’s upcoming return to the squared circle.

Steamboat will be returning to in-ring action for Big Time Wrestling later this year. Flair spoke on Steamboat’s return on his “To Be The Man” podcast. Flair had this to say on the announcement of The Dragon’s comeback:

“He’s going to be in a match soon. I’m happy for him. It’s great. Steve Perkins is a great promoter. I wish them all well, whoever is involved. I don’t know the situation, but it’s great. It’s one of those deals where nobody is ever going to be Ricky Steamboat, so they might as well watch them while they can and enjoy the opportunity. There will never be another Ricky Steamboat. At any level, he’s better than 50% of the guys in the business today. He wouldn’t get in the ring if he wasn’t. He holds himself to a very high standard. I imagine he’ll probably look better than the guys he is in the ring with. He’s always in great shape.”

For a time, it was rumored that Flair and Steamboat would face off one more time in Ric Flair’s last match. Ultimately, that didn’t work out and Flair teamed with Andrade to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
