Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair believes that AEW Trios Champions The Elite should jump ship to the sunny shores of WWE.
In addition to serving as on-screen talent, the group of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks also work as EVPs of AEW, a role Cody Rhodes also filled until his departure last February.
It has been reported that WWE is eager to sign talent from AEW, with multiple contracts in the latter promotion expected to expire this year.
Speaking on his To Be the Man podcast, Flair was asked if he’d like to see Omega and the Bucks join WWE. He said,
“I hope they do. But if I’m Tony Khan, I got a guy in talent relations saying shut the f**k up. Really? Do you think Vince would tolerate [this]? No.
“I think Tony is becoming so enamored with the product, like I said to you the other day, and he’s also very enamored so personally attached to the product, as he is with the football as well. He is not looking at what’s going on. Why are they still talking about CM Punk?”
Given the amount of time he missed in 2022 due to injuries, Omega’s AEW contract has been extended and he will remain with the promotion for most of 2023.
The Elite are currently in their second reign as AEW Trios Champions, after their first reign was ended prematurely following their post-All Out suspensions.
