On June 8, 2021, ROH aired its weekly episode of ROH Week By Week on YouTube. At the beginning of the episode, ROH host Quinn McKay announced an intense match-up for ROH Best In The World 2021.
Following last week’s match between Josh Woods and Silas Young, Woods was interviewed by McKay backstage at ROH Wrestling. Woods was excited about his victory, and called his victory over Woods “an easy win.” Young would approach Woods backstage where he would remind him of reality – Young took Woods to the limit. Woods asked Young if he would be willing to reconcile. With both men 1-1 in singles competition, Woods hoped to call a truce between him and his mentor. Young would go on to agree and shake hands with Woods before low blowing the young wrestler.
Young would go on to challenge Woods to a Last Man Standing match at ROH Best In The World 2021, and the ROH Board of Officials would make it happen.
