Ladies and gentlemen, we are on the road to ROH Best in the World 2021, and it is the season of survival. This past week on ROH Wrestling #507, we witnessed the first qualifying match for the annual Survival of the Fittest Tournament. In this match, we witnessed Bandido fall to the newly reborn Demonic Flamita in singles competition. Flamita will be moving on to compete in the six-way elimination contest for a shot at the ROH World Championship. Who is going to be joining him in this match? Let’s take a look at our singular match for tonight’s ROH Week By Week presented on YouTube!
Survival of the Fittest Tournament Qualifying Match:
Brian Johnson vs. Sledge
This week on ROH Wrestling #507, an announcement and promo package were shown for Brian Johnson and Sledge who will be competing on ROH Week By Week on June 8, 2021, in a Survival of the Fittest Qualifying match.
In this promo, Sledge discussed his upcoming match with Brian Johnson. He would talk about his battles with losing his father and would tell Johnson that he would kill to have one more second with his father (whereas Johnson disrespects his father). Sledge said he would end Brian Johnson’s career. Brian Johnson would talk about Sledge’s battles with addiction, and how he is a role model for children. However, that doesn’t mean Johnson respects Sledge.
As of this writing, Brian Johnson’s last appearance on a Ring of Honor program ended with a loss to former ROH World Champion, PCO. Similarly, Sledge’s last ROH appearance (not counting his recent dark match loss to O’Shay Edwards) would end in a losing effort amidst the 12 Man Rankings Battle Royal (won by Joe Keys and LSG.) With both men walking into this contest with losses on ROH Wrestling, Johnson and Sledge have something to prove tonight on ROH Week By Week.
