WWE SmackDown Superstar Ronda Rousey has compared herself to Roddy Piper in this current titleless run of her career.
Rousey, who returned to WWE in January, lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Liv Morgan at Money in the Bank, and failed to recapture the title at SummerSlam.
Speaking on her YouTube gaming stream, Rousey says she’s pleased that she is not dependent on the gold.
“I don’t need it. I’ve been liking my non-title run because Roddy Piper never really needed the titles to make him great, you know?
“And I enjoy not having all my stories be dependent on the title and also, just having more storylines out there for the women so, everything for the women almost always involves the title and a lot of the men have non-title storylines all the time.”
Rousey was “suspended” after SummerSlam for attacking a referee during the show, and has been feuding with WWE official Adam Pearce since then.
The former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion is known for being a huge fan of Roddy Piper, who died in 2015.
