For the first time in 413 days, the WWE Universe got a new NXT Women’s Champion as Roxanne Perez dethroned Mandy Rose to win the coveted NXT Women’s Title in the main event of the December 13th episode of NXT.
Perez earned her NXT Women’s Title shot by winning the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline.
In a recent interview with BT Sport, Perez praised Mandy and revealed that the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion was delighted to drop the title to her.
“You know, Mandy is so amazing. She honestly is one of the best and sweetest humans I’ve ever met. Since the moment I stepped into NXT…it’s nerve-racking to be surrounded by people you’ve been inspired by. And one of my first few matches was against her for the NXT women’s championship. She’s always been so sweet to me. She’s always given me the best advice. Before and after the match, she gave me a big hug. We were both crying together. It was cool because she was really happy that she was able to pass it down to me. I’ve gotten so close to her within the last few months. No matter what, she’s going to be amazing and do amazing things.”
WWE released Rose on December 14th due to some risque FanTime content.
The company found themselves in a difficult position based on the adult content Rose was posting on her FanTime page as it was outside of the parameters of her deal with the promotion.
"You know, Mandy Rose is so amazing.
"She was really happy that she was able to pass the title down to me."
