According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, NJPW already had plans for Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 14 prior to his departure to All Elite Wrestling.
Allegedly, Kenny Omega would have been in Jay White’s spot on the card. Leading up to the event, Omega would have defeated Kazuchika Okada at the Madison Square Garden show to become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
On night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom 14, Omega was set to have faced off against Kota Ibushi. Regardless, the final result was still slated to have Naito win both titles.
