Despite some rumors to the contrary, GFW’s scheduled live events in New York are not in jeopardy. A report had been making the rounds that Global Force Wrestling’s house shows scheduled for this weekend were in danger of being shut down. The report said that the company was going to try to share another promotion’s license to put on the shows, which is a violation of New York state rules.
However, that is not the case. According to several sources, including one at the New York State Athletic Commission, GFW’s shows on Friday and Saturday are being held under a licensed and bonded promoter in New York and there is no problem with them. The company did cancel one of the three shows this weekend last week due to “unforeseen circumstances and logistical challenges.” It’s possible that this cancellation helped fuel the report, but regardless there’s no truth to it.
The shows run Friday in St. James, Long Island and Saturday in Staten Island.
