According to the latest “rumor roundup” on Cagesideseats.com, WWE is planning to start building for Daniel Bryan to face Kane or The Miz at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in August. The program will begin after Sunday night’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.
As of this writing, Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz looks to be the likely match. With that being said, the site reports that Bryan’s opponent will be based on how WWE believes contract negotiations are going. As we’ve been reporting here on eWrestlingNews.com, Daniel Bryan’s current WWE contract will expire on September 1st, the same day as Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks’ “All In” event in Chicago, IL.
When WWE contracts expire, there is usually not a “no compete” clause and talents are free to work wherever they’d like. The only time “no compete” clauses take effect are when a talent is released/fired or they leave before their contract comes to an end.
