Thankfully, the injury wasn’t anything serious and “The Empress Of Tomorrow” avoided any serious layoff. Asuka ended up appearing for a short segment the next night on SmackDown Live, attacking Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. According to a report from John Pollock of POST Wrestling, WWE had different plans for Asuka initially that were scrapped.
Asuka was originally booked to face Deville in a singles bout. However, after her injury scare, the decision was made to have Mandy Rose defeat Naomi in a match instead. The match was a quick one, in which Rose picked up the victory in about a minute.
As of this writing, Asuka will still defend her SmackDown Live Women’s Title against Rose at Fastlane this weekend (Sun. March 10, 2019). The pay-per-view (PPV) goes down from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
