Samoa Joe was arguably the biggest name on the list of released talent from WWE back in April. However, now just two months on, rumours have emerged that NXT could well be interested in bringing the “Samoan Submission Machine” back to the company.
According to Fightful Select numerous talent and staff within the brand have pushed for Joe’s return in a “wrestling role”, with Fightful stating they had heard these reports from over half a dozen talent within the company. If this was true, it would be in contrast to Joe’s most recent role in WWE as a color commentator.
The report from Fightful did also state however that “A few things we should specify, talent in a broad sense in speculating this, with some even believing that it’s going to happen. Fightful has reached out to WWE officials but has not confirmed this with them, and have no indication that a deal has been made or will be from our side.”
If an offer was made and Joe decided to remain a free agent, his standard WWE 90-day non-compete clause would expire a little over a month away on July 14th.
