Fightful Select reports that Saraya received an offer from WWE before her AEW debut at Grand Slam.
The report notes that Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis decided not to renew her contract when it expired and that the former Divas Champion announced her departure in mid-June after finding out her contract wouldn’t be renewed. According to sources, she was offered a “surprisingly low” deal which prevented her from doing a lot of outside projects.
She was offered a chance to return shortly after McMahon departed from the company. Triple H was said to have been “shocked” when he found out that the old regime decided not to renew her contract.
Additionally, AEW allowing her to do her outside projects without losing a cut to WWE led to her signing with AEW instead. WWE did not have Saraya checked for a return, and she had to undergo her own self-checks with doctors to try and get cleared. The old regime reportedly had no interest in bringing her back to wrestle.
