Vince McMahon was willing to ‘grease the palms’ of law enforcement to ensure nothing happened to D-Generation X when the group ‘invaded’ WCW.
In 1998, the group of degenerates, consisting of Triple H, Chyna, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac, made multiple visits to legitimate WCW tapings and live events.
Speaking on the latest edition of the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast, Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman recalled making the trips to WCW and claimed that McMahon was willing to make sure nothing happened to his talent. He said,
“It was a rush doing that. We knew we were doing something that was … uncharted waters. We didn’t get handcuffed … I mean, we had to go to the station, but they let us stay in our van. When we went to the WCW offices, not the CNN tower, Vince had already paid off the local police. They were with us. We had to go out and technically get booked … but [it was already taken care of].”
DX’s most iconic arrival at a WCW event took place on April 27, 1998, when RAW and Nitro were just 19 miles apart.
