Austin Theory successfully defended the WWE United States Championship against Seth Rollins in the main event of this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Theory hit the A-Town Down for the pin to retain the title after turning the match around via unfair means.
During the final moments of the match, there was a spot where The Visionary appeared to have potentially tweaked his knee, although this was most likely part of the match as Rollins was involved in another spot shortly after where his knee buckled.
Fans in attendance at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN noted that Rollins had thrown up the dreaded “X” asking for help immediately after the match. The former WWE Universal Champion clutched his knee and yelled out at others while Theory celebrated his victory.
Corey Graves, who came over to check on Rollins as he limped away from the ring, also called for medical assistance and yelled at the officials for help. Graves assisted Rollins to the back as Theory’s music continued to play inside the arena. One fan particularly noted that Rollins didn’t appear to be putting any weight on the potentially injured leg while limping his way to the back.
It’s unclear whether the injury is legitimate or some kind of post-match angle for The Visionary to sell an injury for forthcoming storylines, or perhaps to write him off television until the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
