According to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were several key names missing backstage from this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live.
Vince McMahon was not backstage for RAW or SmackDown. McMahon had corporate obligations he felt he needed to take care of. As a result, Kevin Dunn doesn’t go to TV when Vince isn’t there. Stephanie McMahon wasn’t backstage either, however, it was noted that she is no longer a regular at TV unless it’s a special occasion.
Triple H wasn’t backstage either, as he went back to Florida for two days worth of NXT tapings, where each day they were filming four hours. Those TV tapings will be all the shows leading into NXT TakeOver: Toronto & SummerSlam weekend. “The Game” felt he needed to be there to help get everything ready.
As a result, it was reported that Ed Koskey was “running around like crazy” at RAW, and he was “kind of in control.” It was also mentioned that Dana Warrior has been working heavily with Lacey Evans on her promos.
