AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter prior to Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage, responding to a week-old comment from Dave Meltzer about AEW talent bearing travel and accommodation expenses themselves domestically. You can check out his tweet below:
That's false Dave. Your statement's true about other companies but doesn't apply at all to AEW
AEW invests millions of dollars every year on very good quality hotel rooms + safe transport to take care of our wrestlers.
It's a huge investment I make on hotels weekly#AEWRampage https://t.co/bXPGVTSt51

For what it’s worth, Meltzer’s Twitter account has been hacked and remains inactive at the time of this writing.
Several AEW talents have since reaffirmed Tony Khan’s statement, including Chris Jericho, Dax Harwood, and others.
No company, wrestling or other, has taken care of me the way AEW has. First class. Ill never forget that.

For the record, @aew is the ONLY North American wrestling company I’ve worked for that has paid for my transportation & hotels consistently for EVERY show I’ve worked for them, since 1996 when Paul E paid for my rooms at the crack hotel in Philly. https://t.co/Eextl9qIO9

Earlier in the day, responding to tweets highlighting criticism about AEW bringing in international stars for “dream matches,” in this instance, El Hijo del Vikingo coming in to face Kenny Omega next week on Dynamite, Khan tweeted,
They aren't doing it to be genuine.
A large % of those replies aren't from real people, a lot of them are accounts that upon inspection seem to only exist to question and rip AEW and most of their other content seems to be a cover story to justify the existence of these accounts.— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) March 17, 2023
Tony Khan has often damaged his goodwill with frequent outbursts or rather petty responses on Twitter. However, it is refreshing to see him stand up for his company and his talent.
