WWE announced last week that NXT would be returning to the Download Festival in the UK from June 5 – 11. When the news was released, there was a poster advertising top NXT stars except for former NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, which sparked speculation that his time in the developmental brand is coming to an end. At the time it was speculated that if Nakamura loses his match against Bobby Roode for the championship at NXT Takeover: Orlando on Saturday, April 1st at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida then he may be called up to the main roster on the episode of RAW after WrestleMania, which historically has been a show where WWE calls up NXT talents to the main roster.
WWE announced on Monday that Nakamura would be working the upcoming NXT tour in June, which means that he will not be called up to the main roster anytime soon. It’s possible that he is called up later this year. The company posted this video of Nakamura hyping the tour:
