At Slammiversary 2021 Deonna Purrazzo successfully defended her Impact Wrestling Knockouts Championship against Thunder Rosa. After the match, Mickie James would make her return to the company, inviting Purrazzo to appear at NWA Empowerrr. Purrazzo would throw the offer back in James’ face, before receiving a superkick for her troubles. This interaction seemed to indicate that we could be seeing James vs. Purrazzo in the near future, possibly at NWA Empowerrr.
However, a new report from Fightful Select has indicated that though Purrazzo is set to face a former WWE Women’s Champion at the event, it won’t be Mickie James. Instead, “The Virtuosa” is set to face Melina at the event. The report does also state that Deonna Purrazzo vs. Mickie James is still planned for the future, just not at NWA Empowerrr.
This report falls in line with James’ previous comments, where she has stated she will not be wrestling on the Empowerrr card. Instead, she will appear at NWA’s 73rd Anniversary Show the following night, against an opponent who is still TBA.
So far there is just one match announced for NWA Empowerrr, with NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille defending her title against a currently unnamed opponent. The NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championships are also set to make their return on the show.
