ROH issued the following:

*CONTAINS TELEVISION SPOILERS*

Sumie Sakai has turned back the hands of time, having a career renaissance 22 years into her storied career and 16 years into leaving everything in her life behind her in Japan and traveling to the United States, looking to wrestle at the highest levels.

The gamble paid off and Women of Honor’s “Ray of Sunshine” made the unlikely, improbable climb to the top, becoming the first-ever Women of Honor World Champion by wining a 16-woman tournament and defending the title against global stars in global locations.

With wins over stars from the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States in the UK and US while taking the Championship to Canada, Sumie has proved time and time again she is the very best in the world. But she still feels she must prove it to herself: when announcer Ian Riccaboni approached Sumie after a Proving Ground match in Philadelphia to declare the ROH Board of Directors have officially christened the Women of Honor Championship the Women of Honor World Championship, Sumie said there was one more person she must defeat before she has rightfully earned that distinction.

WOMEN OF HONOR WORLD CHAMPION SUMIE SAKAI vs. TENILLE DASHWOOD

Sumie said there is one competitor left she must defeat before she believes she is a true World Champion and that woman is Australian international superstar Tenille Dashwood! Tenille has among the best records in Women of Honor and many believed it would be just a matter of time before the two faced with the Championship on the line!

Tenille sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world when she inserted herself as the 16th competitor in the tournament to crown the first-ever Women of Honor Champion and has done nothing but win matches ever since. Like Sumie, Tenille left much of her life behind in Australia when she chose to move to Canada to train under Lance Storm then wrestle in the United States!

This a first-time Championship match, Tenille’s first opportunity competing for the Women of Honor Championship. With the chips pushed all in to the center of the table, Sumie needs this win to define her reign and define herself as a true World Champion while Tenille looks to win the championship in her first opportunity.
