Stephanie McMahon opened Friday night’s episode of SmackDown with a special message to her father.
It was reported on Friday that Vince McMahon has retired from WWE. The former CEO and Chairman of the company stepped down amidst allegations of sexual harassment.
Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan will reportedly now serve as co-CEOs.
An emotional Stephanie opened SmackDown to address her father’s retirement and led a “thank you, Vince” chant with the audience in attendance. She then welcomed everyone to the show.
An “all hands on deck” meeting also took place before Friday’s SmackDown taping. The meeting was said to have been held virtually and was to confirm to everyone backstage that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan would indeed take over responsibilities as CEOs of the company going forward.
