Although it was initially reported that there was a pitch in WWE to have Steve Austin work a match with Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 39, a new report suggests Brock Lesnar was also considered for the match against the WWE Hall of Famer.
The original report noted that Austin was offered an “enormous” sum of money to work the match, but it was unknown whether he accepted the offer.
On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said Lesnar was pitched as Austin’s opponent. However, Meltzer noted that it doesn’t look likely the match will happen, but things could still change.
It was reported earlier this month that WWE planned for a showdown between Lesnar and Gunther at WrestleMania 39.
