Despite some speculations that he was a free agent fueled by himself, Tama Tonga re-signed with NJPW.
Currently “loaned” to Impact Wrestling, Tama Tonga confirmed on his Tama’s Island podcast that his free agency was short lived and he inked a new deal with NJPW, continuing his status as one of the longest tenured gaijins of the company.
In NJPW, Tama Tonga is a record setting seven time IWGP Tag Team Champion as well as a one time ROH World Tag Team Champion with his brother Tanga Loa and two time CMLL World Tag Team Champion, for a total of ten reigns as world tag team champion obtained thanks to NJPW’s working agreements with other companies.
