As seen during Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Pete Dunne made his official main roster debut and has been renamed “Butch”.
“Butch” became an ally of Sheamus and Ridge Holland during their match with The New Day.
According to a report from Fightful, the word making the rounds on Friday afternoon was that “something very dumb” was planned for the show. Of course, that pertained to Pete Dunne’s name change.
Additionally, there were several wrestlers outside the company who heard about the planned name change on Thursday and some thought it was a Bushwhackers-related rib. For those unaware, Ridge Holland’s real name is Luke.
One former WWE Superstar also said they thought it was likely in reference to “Butch” from the Little Rascals.
