The First ROH ‘Glory By Honor’ Match Announced

The official website of Ring of Honor has announced that Kevin Steen will square off against Michael Bennett at their Glory by Honor event on Oct. 26 in Chicago, Illinois.

The match is being billed as “Battle of Piledrivers.” Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis will be in the corner of Bennett.

Here is the official announcement:

On September 21st, ROH taped episodes of “Ring of Honor Wrestling ” TV in Philadelphia for the very first time and one man in particular used this historic occasion to make an impact. During the episode that will air on 10/19, Kevin Steen and Michael Bennett had a bit of a confrontation that resulted in Maria putting her hands on the former World Champion.

Then during the episode that will air on 10/26, Bennett laid out Steen with a piledriver prior to his match with Eddie Edwards but that was not the end of it. Last weekend at “A New Dawn” in Hopkins, after Steen had defeated Jimmy Jacobs, Bennett would again lay out Kevin with a piledriver as well as sucker punch Jacobs, the man who will be his opponent this Saturday night in Baltimore.

“I don’t demand much from ROH officials.” said Kevin Steen to, “But damn it Nigel McGuinness, I am demanding this from you. Me and Bennett, one-on-one, as soon as you can book the match. He has assaulted me, spiked me on me head two times now with his piledriver, and I will admit…it hurts like hell. But I think in Chicago for Glory by Honor, one of the premier ROH events of the year, I think Michael Bennett needs to be dropped on his head one…two…maybe even three times courtesy of my Package Pile driver. Make it happen Nigel!”

Nigel heard Kevin’s request and has informed that on October 26th, when we return to The Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, that match will go down! Steen vs. Bennett! The Battle Of The Piledrivers! Will Kevin be the third former World Champion in a row to fall to Bennett’s piledriver or will Steen’s Package variation spike Michael on top of his skull? Be there live to see for yourself! Tickets are on-sale now.
