As seen during this past Sunday night’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, FTR defeated Roppongi Vice and Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. With the win, FTR are now in possession of the IWGP, ROH and AAA Tag Team Championships.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NJPW booker Gedo’s original plan was for the Young Bucks to win the IWGP tag titles. The idea was to do an AEW vs. IWGP tag title match, as the Young Bucks are the current AEW World Tag Team Champions.

While the original plans were changed, the Young Bucks were said to have been on board with the decision.

AEW is expected to have the Young Bucks and FTR face off in the future with all four sets of tag titles on the line.
