An angle featuring a “Cleopatra Golden Egg” being stolen was part of Survivor Series. While the conclusion saw Austin Theory as the man behind the theft, which resulted in him earning a WWE Championship opportunity, the original idea was different.
Fightful reported that the first idea behind the angle, done to promote The Rock’s movie Red Notice, was supposed to make it a segment based around the 24/7 Championship. The WWE source that Fightful spoke to referred that the producers of Red Notice felt like it wasn’t enough.
Involving Vince McMahon in the angle could have therefore been a way to raise the stake and make the short Golden Egg storyline feel more important.
