The Rules For WWE’s New Brand to Brand Invitation Initiative Revealed

During Friday night’s edition of SmackDown, WWE revealed the rules for their new Brand to Brand Invitation initiative.

WWE Superstars will be able to appear on the opposite brand four times a year. So for someone like Charlotte Flair, she appeared tonight so she only has three more appearances left on the show. She’s scheduled to face Bayley next week on SmackDown so she’ll only have two more after that. As of this writing, it isn’t clear if the “per year” is calendar year or a year from the initiative’s start.

The WWE NXT brand is not included in the Brand to Brand Invitation. The rule is basically a modified version of the Wild Card Rule. That rule allowed for up to four wrestlers to cross brands each week but it didn’t stick as many more Superstars wound up crossing over on a week to week basis. We’ll see how long the Brand to Brand Invitation rules stick, especially with Vince McMahon changing things up on a daily basis.
