One of the innovators of hardcore and the owner of House Of Hardcore, Tommy Dreamer, spoke with App.com to promote his upcoming H.O.H. show in New Jersey this Friday. Dreamer spoke on how the independent wrestling scene has evolved and how social media has helped it grow as well.

Dreamer: “The independents have changed through the years for the better. It’s an alternative, it’s an alternative product outside of WWE. It’s funny, a lot of people think once you leave the WWE you’re retired or you’re no longer wrestling. Last year, at 46 years old, I did 180 shows not working for the WWE and I have my own wrestling company which is doing fabulous. The game changed a lot with social media and all digital media because you can show your product out there. For me, it’s a lot of self promotion on my own Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. People hear about it and if you book it they will come. I always say wrestling is the greatest form of entertainment. Some places it’s cheaper than a movie and you can’t yell at a movie screen or else they’ll ask you to leave, but for wrestling, you can yell back and the characters will yell back at you.”
