Tons Of Backstage Extreme Rules & RAW News – Major Re-Writes, Sane, Banks, Mysterio

Rey Mysterio is backstage at today’s RAW TV tapings and is scheduled to be on TV going forward. Mysterio was at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT last week to try and work out a new contract with WWE.

As noted earlier today here on eWn, while Sasha Banks has possession of the RAW Women’s Championship, the idea is to not recognize her as champion. That will be explained tonight on RAW.

We have confirmed that today will be Kairi Sane’s last day with WWE. Following today’s TV tapings, she’ll be returning home to Japan.

There have been a ton of creative re-writes today, which is why the TV tapings started late. One source said almost the entire show was re-written this morning and into the early afternoon hours.

WWE went back and forth on which match would close out the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event. It was between the WWE Championship match that featured Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre or the Swamp Fight between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. The Swamp Fight was filmed on Thursday in Florida.

All of the Extreme Rules matches that aired from the WWE Performance Center were live except for the Eye for an Eye match between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins. WWE recorded that match during the afternoon hours and Vince McMahon oversaw it. McMahon was heavily involved in laying out the story of the match. He also picked out the weapons that Rollins and Mysterio used.

Apollo Crews was not at the TV tapings last night. Crews is believed to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Asuka was set to defeat Sasha Banks clean at Extreme Rules but plans changed at the very last minute. The original plan had her winning via submission with the Asuka lock.
