AEW President Tony Khan has claimed that his promotion experienced zero transmissions of COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic.

In early 2020, AEW was forced to host events without live fans due to rules to prevent the spread of the coronavirus but used wrestlers in the crowd as an audience.

While speaking with The Athletic, Khan claimed that AEW ran events without any known COVID-19 transmissions.

“We had zero known transmissions of COVID because we did it safely, but we didn’t wait a year to bring fans back. We were the first wrestling company to do it, but we did it safely.”

In September 2020, Lance Archer tested positive for COVID-19, which forced Khan to change plans for AEW Dynamite.
