During the AEW Revolution 2023 post-show media scrum, Tony Khan commented on IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone potentially coming to All Elite Wrestling.
In response to a question from Phil Lindsey, Tony Khan refused to comment on discussions he may or may not have had with the former Sasha Banks following her release from WWE but noted that he had a ton of respect for her, and any wrestling promotion would be fortunate to have her. He said,
“I have a ton of respect for the IWGP Women’s World Champion, she’s a tremendous wrestler. I wouldn’t want to comment on discussions I’ve had with any wrestler who is a free agent, in particular, a wrestler who is a champion of one of our partners. A ton of respect for that great wrestler and somebody that any wrestling company would be very fortunate to have wrestling for them.”
It is rather interesting to note that Khan never once mentioned Mercedes Mone by name in his response.
Coincidentally, Mercedes Mone defeated KAIRI to win the IWGP Women’s Championship at the San Jose Civic in San Francisco, the same city as where AEW Revolution was held last night.
