UPDATE: AEW and ROH CEO Tony Khan took part in a post-ROH Supercard of Honor media scrum and provided an update on Dante Martin, who suffered a gruesome injury at Friday night’s pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, CA.
During the scrum (watch below), Khan confirmed that Martin has been taken to a local hospital and is being evaluated. He said,
“He’s at the hospital right now. And right before I came out here, I talked to Darius. And Darius is there and some other good friends. I hope to have a good update soon on Dante. I know he’s in pain, but I wish him the best, and obviously we’re all praying for Dante. Dante’s an amazing, amazing wrestler. Obviously, his brother has been through serious injuries and missed time. And we love Darius very much too, and we missed Darius when he was out. And I think Dante will probably be out of action for some time. And I look forward to now Darius taking the time to grow and learn from it. But Dante’s somebody that’s going to be with us for a very, very, very, very long time.”
ORIGINAL: Dante Martin suffered what appears to be a very serious injury at Friday night’s ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view event.
During the Reach for the Sky Ladder Match, Martin and Penta were battling it out on the top of a latter. After an insane spot that featured Penta hitting Dante with a Canadian Destroyer off the ladder and through several tables, Martin came down hard on the floor and his lower leg snapped in half.
You can check out the video below. **We’ll warn you ahead of time – it’s extremely graphic!**
As of this writing, there is no word on his status but it’s very likely he’s been taken to a local hospital.
The Lucha Bros. wound up winning the match to become the new ROH World Tag Team Champions.
We send our best wishes to Dante Martin.
