As seen during the debut episode of AEW Dark: Elevation last night, AEW President Tony Khan appeared during a segment with Kenny Omega. This marked Khan’s second on-screen appearance on AEW television since the company debuted. AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone took to Twitter today, reacting to Khan appearing. He said,
“I know @TonyKhan very well. He never wants to take up TV time with an appearance, but needed to deliver a message tonight on #Elevation to an out-of-control Kenny Omega. He’s never done that on Dynamite and never intends to, but tonight he was the only one that could do it. @AEW”
Back in 2020, AEW Superstar and EVP Cody Rhodes took to Twitter and said that he hoped AEW would never use an on-air authority figure. He called them “insulting in this era.”. He said, “Hopefully never. The audience isn’t dumb, they know who management is. Authority elements seem insulting in this era. This is just my opinion, as there’s a lot of fun ways to do this and I respect those.”
