As seen during Friday night’s WWE SmackDown broadcast, Triple H referenced the reports online about his “quiet demotion.” He joked that the role has him working “harder than ever!”

We reported earlier this week here on eWn that Triple H received a new job and a new corporate title within WWE. He is now listed as the Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy and Development.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, when Michelle Wilson and George Barrios were fired in January, several people within WWE said something “just as big happened in December” but it was kept quiet. While the company never revealed what that was, Triple H’s new title was revealed in an SEC filing.

Triple H had previously been working as the head of talent relations. He also oversaw other departments including the EVP of Talent, Live Events and Creative. With this new job title, he’s been moved away from being in charge of talent. His main roles now are to run WWE NXT, selling WWE NXT TV rights overseas and expanding NXT globally. Vince McMahon’s Chief of Staff, Brad Blum, took over the other responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Operations.

Some within WWE are calling the move a “quiet demotion.” Mark Carrano, who is in charge of talent, now reports directly to Brad Blum.
