Two NJPW Stars Set to Leave Company

It looks like two big pieces of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) tag team division are set to depart. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that Trent Baretta and Chuckie T are on their way out of the company. Baretta was reportedly offered a contract, which involved a big push and guaranteed booking dates.

He spoke to NJPW management before his decision to leave, saying he was willing to sign a new deal. However, now he’s backing off that claim, and is looking to go elsewhere. There’s currently no indication as to where the pair will end up. But Meltzer did speculate All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a likely landing spot for the pair.

They have a good relationship with The Elite, and AEW will be putting a lot of focus into its tag team division, as opposed to companies like WWE who tend to ignore it. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…
