As previously reported, AEW teased a return of The Elite on last night’s episode of Dynamite. An earlier report stated that the trio’s return to the company is “imminent.”
Dave Meltzer shed some more light on the backstage incident following AEW All Out during the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, indicating that the investigation was now over. With The Elite seemingly on their way back to the promotion, and no mention of CM Punk, Meltzer noted that this ought to explain how the investigation went.
If things had gone down backstage as CM Punk described, with Larry the dog getting hurt, then the opposite would have played out. However, a source said that this was an “outright lie” that was clearly planted from CM Punk’s side.
Punk is currently injured so a return wouldn’t be possible now anyway, and it remains to be seen if he will return at all. There have been rumors circulating that the two sides are negotiating a buyout. None of the involved parties are allowed to talk about the incident.
